Primary activity : Project developerThe person or organisation that set up an offset generating project for the purpose of selling carbon offsets and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. , RetailerCarbon offset retailers either fund or purchase carbon offsets in large quantities and then on sell them to individual consumers in smaller quantities. , Not-for-ProfitIn the Carbon Offset Guide not-for-profit entities must have appropriate legal status, which means that they must have a formal structure; be self-governing; be private; be non-profit-distributing; and have some meaningful degree of voluntary involvement. Price (per tonne CO2e) : AU$21 - AU$30
Summary
Carbon Community 's view on the role of carbon offsets in addressing climate change"Carbon Community views carbon offsets as being an important part of the first of the Australian government's three pillars of climate change policy; reducing Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Carbon Community's work supports all three pillars of Australian climate change policy (reducing Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions, adapting to climate change that we cannot avoid, and helping to shape a global solution that both protects the planet and advances Australia’s long-term interests) through its work in reducing poverty and promoting environmental sustainability in Africa. It works with small and medium enteprises (including not-for-profits) and Australian households that are keen to take social responsibility and reduce their environmental impacts. Offsets generated and sold by Carbon Community[Q33a]- Non-accredited forestry offsets
- Non-accredited renewable energy offsets
- Non-accredited energy efficiencyEnergy efficiency improvements refer to a reduction in the energy used for a given service (heating, lighting, etc.) or level of activity. Such savings are generally achieved by substituting technologically more advanced equipment to produce the same level of end-use services (e.g. lighting, heating, motor drive) with less electricity. offsetsDo you provide quality assurance or technical documentation on your web site or on request?[Q16]http://www.carboncommunity.org.au/organisations/cid/5/parent/0/pid/5/t/o...

Renewable Energy- Tanzania | Africa

General Information
[Q22, Q25]Own Project | This project distributes small solar panels that can be connected to energy efficient LED lights, each of which has a lifespan of five to 10 years. Reducing the carbon dioxideA greenhouse gas that is produced as a by-product of oil and gas production, burning fossil fuels and biomassBiomass is non-fossilized and organic biodegradable material that can be used as fuel or for industrial production. Most commonly, biomass refers to plant matter grown for use as Biofuels, but it also includes plant or animal matter used for production of fibres, chemicals or heat. Biomass may also include biodegradable wastes that can be burnt as fuel. , as well as from all animals, plants, and a number of other natural sources. Carbon dioxide is the principal anthropogenic greenhouse gas that affects the earth’s temperature. that is emitted from kerosene lamps by replacing them with non-polluting technology generates carbon offsets. These projects pay for Tanzanian families to have access to these products, which are shipped from China to Tanzania and then distributed. Families contribute to the cost of purchasing the panel and light sets and for poorer families this cost is significantly subsidised. This approach is fully endorsed by village leaders and our African partners.

Energy Effiency - Tanzania | Tanzania

General Information
[Q22, Q25]Own Project | Energy Effiency- Project trials have shown fuel efficienct stoves to be a great success in Tanzania. Carbon offsets are generated by reducing the carbon dioxideA greenhouse gas that is produced as a by-product of oil and gas production, burning fossil fuels and biomassBiomass is non-fossilized and organic biodegradable material that can be used as fuel or for industrial production. Most commonly, biomass refers to plant matter grown for use as Biofuels, but it also includes plant or animal matter used for production of fibres, chemicals or heat. Carbon dioxide is the principal anthropogenic greenhouse gas that affects the earth’s temperature. emissions of stoves. This project provides Tanzanians with the training needed to build and maintain these stoves. Families gather locally-available sand and stones, are trained by our African partners in stove construction and build the stoves themselves.

The stove design benefits health by minimising smoke, reduces cooking time and protects children from fires.
Reforestation Project- Tanzania | Africa

General Information
[Q22, Q25]Own Project | ReforestationThe reestablishment of forest on land that was previously forested but converted to another use before 31.12.1989. - Much-needed reforestation projects generate carbon offsets by storing carbon in trees, and these offsets fund our partners to work with Tanzanian villages on improving their local environments. People are taught how to cultivate and care for trees in nurseries, and they are now waiting for them to grow on communal village land. On average villagers plant around 1,250 trees per hectare for the purposes of generating carbon offsets. The trees are protected by the village government in accordance with law and regulations.

The project pays for families to grow extra trees, crops and plants for person use, which reduce time spent gathering firewood, provide shade for people and livestock, improve health and increase income.Contact Details
